Pataskala, Ohio (28 July 2018) – IMSA announced today the addition of Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course to the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship’s 2018 race calendar and Michael Shank Racing with Curb/Agajanian is thrilled for the return of the team’s home track to the IMSA championship.
Located less than 60 miles north of the team’s shop in Pataskala, Ohio, Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course has long been a place where central Ohio Michael Shank Racing fans gather to see the team compete in person. And with several local businesses partnered with the Michael Shank Racing team including Roberts Service Group, Rocky Fork Company, and CAP & Associates – the close location allows for many of the teams partners to come together and initiate hospitality opportunities.
“The number one question I always get – by far- is ‘when is IMSA coming back to Mid-Ohio?’,” offered Team Owner Mike Shank, who grew up in Gahanna – a suburb of Columbus, Ohio. “Our fans are some of the most loyal in motorsports and we have a ton of fans that love to come out to Mid-Ohio and truly miss it on our IMSA schedule. I’m grateful that IMSA and Mid-Ohio came to terms. Everyone at Michael Shank Racing along with our partners will do whatever we can support this great event.”
Michael Shank Racing made 18 Daytona Prototype starts from 2003-2013 at the 2.258-mile, 13-turn natural-terrain road course that offers elevation changes, high-speed corners, flowing corners and tight corners.
The team’s best finish at the track came when Ozz Negri and John Pew combined for second in 2010.
