Meyer Shank Racing Celebrates IMSA Race Fans with Continental Tire Livery

Braselton, Ga. (4 October 2018) – Meyer Shank Racing (MSR) has a long-established history of using specialized liveries on its various machines throughout the race season, and this year has been no different.

MSR will close out the 2018 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship season with a full Continental Tire “Celebrates You” livery on the No. 86 MSR Acura NSX GT3.

The Motul Petit Le Mans event weekend not only marks the end of the 2018 race season, but also sees the curtain close on Continental Tire’s nine-year partnership with the IMSA series.

As the No. 86 MSR Acura NSX GT3 of Katherine Legge, Alvaro Parente and Trent Hindman fight for GTD championship bragging rights next weekend, it will round the 2.54-mile course representing Continental Tire’s accomplishments throughout the years with a dedicated “Celebrates You” livery.

Does the Continental Tire livery ring a bell? If it does, that is because this Road Atlanta finale isn’t the first time MSR has displayed the iconic black and gold colors. At the 2011 Rolex 24 At Daytona, the MSR Daytona Prototype driven by the late Justin Wilson, AJ Allmendinger and Michael McDowell was complete with a black, gold and white paint scheme joined with the iconic Continental Tire branding as the entry led the race early in the running.

Meyer Shank Racing has enjoyed several triumphs over the years, earned while racing with Continental Tires. That record isn’t limited to competition, as MSR set the speed record at Daytona International Speedway in a Ford-EcoBoost Daytona Prototype with driver Colin Braun recording a 222.971 mph lap around the speedway. It was none other than Continental Tire that helped make that feat possible.

The team has racked up 26 podiums and 7 wins since Continental Tire started its involvement in IMSA competition. Now with its “Celebrates You” campaign, MSR is excited to partner with Continental Tire for the final race of the season as the team continues its tradition of welcoming fans to sign the hood of the car ahead of the start of the 10-hour race.

“All season long, Continental Tire has been celebrating teams, drivers and fans,” said Director of Marketing for Continental Tire, Travis Roffler. “When we had the opportunity to collaborate with Meyer Shank Racing, it perfectly aligned with what we’ve been doing to celebrate at each track throughout the season. Each year Mike Shank has invited fans to sign the team’s car at the final race and we couldn’t be happier to have the No. 86 Acura NSX GT3 displaying the prominent gold and black Continental Tire colors and to have the car filled with names of so many fans who have supported us through the years.”

The Meyer Shank Racing team is grateful for Continental Tire’s contributions to the sport throughout the years and is proud to be displaying the iconic colors to give back to a company that has done so much for its fans, drivers, teams and media through its “Celebrates You” campaign.

“We as a team have always changed up our liveries and I think this is a really special one for us,” said Mike Shank. “Continental Tire has been on this journey with us

for several years through some of the highs and lows that we all experience in this sport. This is a livery with true meaning behind it and we are excited to represent Continental Tire in its last race in the series.”

The No. 86 MSR Acura NSX GT3 will be vying for the GTD championship title this weekend and is hoping that the Continental Tire colors can bring an extra bit of luck.

“The Meyer Shank Racing team has done a tremendous job this year,” said Roffler. “They are in the fight for the championship title and it will all come down to Road Atlanta, so this is a very exciting event for us. We’ll have a lot of other celebrations happening throughout the weekend at the track, and this is a great way to kick it off.”

MSR welcomes fans to sign the hood of both the No. 86 and No. 93 Acura NSX GT3s during the official autograph session on Friday from 2:00-2:45pm ET as well as during the Fan Walk on Saturday at 9:45am ET.
