Bowmanville, Ontario (6 July 2019) – The No. 86 SiriusXM Canada / AutoNation NSX GT3 of Mario Farnbacher and Trent Hindman will start third for the Mobil 1 SportsCar Grand Prix presented by Acura on Sunday (Live NBC 1:00pm ET).
The 15-minute qualifying session on Saturday marked the final outing before race day. The weekend’s three practice sessions gave the duo the opportunity to continue to develop the set up as they look to follow up their winning run at Watkins Glen with another big result. The new-for-2019 Acura NSX GT3 Evo has an updated aero package, which was put to use at the high speed Canadian Tire Motorsport Park (CTMP).
Hindman will be making his IMSA WeatherTech GTD debut at CTMP and was once again given qualifying duties in the No. 86 Acura. After scoring his second pole of the season last weekend at Watkins Glen, Hindman was hoping to continue that momentum onto this weekend. At the end of a hard fought session, Hindman set a fast lap of 1:16.393-seconds to secure the third on the gird.
“CTMP is an incredibly fast track that is hard to pass at,” said Hindman. “The Meyer Shank Racing boys always give us a good race car, so I am not too worried about starting in third. It is the best we could do today, and we are already ahead of where the team was here last year. The Acura NSX GT3 Evo package has improved greatly over the last year and there is much more data to work with. We will rely on strategy tomorrow to help us move up. We know we are good in traffic; we know we are good on our tire runs so we will use those tomorrow.”
The Mobil 1 SportsCar Grand Prix presented by Acura will take the green flag Sunday, July 7th at 1PM ET live on NBC as well as IMSA Radio on SiriusXM Channel 202 and Online Channel 970.
